We are now on to our winter opening hours in the café and are closed on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rather than do the sensible thing and take some proper days off to relax, we had a better idea and decided to transform the café into a restaurant on Friday night for our inaugural pop-up curry night.
It was a huge success, and we sold out the tables quickly. Food prep began days in advance to allow all the delicious spices time to steep and the curries were prepared the day before. We served butter chicken, lamb masala and a butternut squash vegetarian option. Many guests opted for a taste of all three!
We also offered a choice of cocktails – the Torrisdale Sling and a Gimlet. The sling was particularly popular and used our apple brandy with a shot of Kintyre Gin, a dash of lemon and topped up with apple juice and soda. The perfect accompaniment to the spicy food.
The café looked amazing and was quite the transformation. We kept the lights low and the fire warm so there was a lovely atmosphere.
We had fantastic feedback, and everyone was keen to know when the next pop-up will be. We would love to more in the quieter months so keep an eye out for the next on in January.
